Atoms, Electron Arrangement, and Elements in the Periodic Table

1. Compare and contrast protons, electrons, and neutrons. (pgs. 79 – 83)
2. Use atomic numbers to write nuclear symbols for various isotopes. (pgs. 84 - 87)
3. Relate the average atomic mass of an element to isotopic masses and abundances. (pgs. 88 - 89)
4. Write electron configurations, orbital diagrams, and electron dot diagrams for main group atoms. (pgs. 90-99,199-201)
5. Identify the location of alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, transition metal, halogen, and noble gas group elements on the periodic table. (pgs. 124-131)
6. Explain why elements in a particular group on the periodic table share similar properties. (pg 119)
7. Know how to do conversions! (Units 1,2 and 3 )
